Raj TV Network to re-launch Raj Musix Kannada

Raj Television Network will re-launch its Karnataka-centric music channel, Raj Musix Kannada, as Raj Music Karnataka.
Raj Television Network will re-launch its Karnataka-centric music channel, Raj Musix Kannada, as Raj Music Karnataka on February 14. The channel will get a complete facelift with a new logo, new packaging and a new programme line-up.

Tata DoCoMo – radio active with gusto

Tata DoCoMo has become the first Indian private operator to launch 3G services in India, with its recent launch in all the nine telecom circles where it had bagged 3G licence.
For Tata DoCoMo, radio as a medium has grown significantly in terms of number of stations and players in India in the last few years, this spread has contributed in the expansion of the medium. Also, the number of players, combined with visible advertising has helped as well. Radio for them is one of the mediums that has always helped in reaching out to the masses, though television still has an upper hand. To counter this, radio has to reinvent itself on the content side.

TRAI proposes a sixfold increase in 2G spectrum price

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today proposed to the government a hefty increase in the price of 2G spectrum that service providers use for mobile telephony. 
In its recommendations to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), TRAI has recommended an all-India spectrum price of Rs 17.7 billion ($391 million) per megahertz for up to 6.2 MHz and to Rs 45.72 billion per MHz for spectrum beyond that.

TRAI meets stakeholders for digitisation

Broadcasters and multi-system operators (MSOs) today met Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman J S Sarma and other senior officials to discuss issues relating to digitisation, addressability and interconnectivity. 
TRAI had recently decided to extend the last date for receiving the views of stakeholders on its consultation paper relating to interconnection regulation in non-addressable Cable TV, but had not announced the new date.

Payment to foreign satellites not liable to tax: HC

The Delhi High Court has said that payment to foreign satellite companies are not liable to tax.
The court, thus, gave relief to Hong Kong based-satellite operator AsiaSat, in a ruling that will help broadcast companies.

Disturbing calls: TRAI extends deadline to March 1

Mobile subscribers will have to wait longer to get some relief from telemarketing calls. 
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has again extended the deadline by a month to March 1 for implementing the guidelines to curb telemarketing calls.

Following its earlier tie-up with the State Bank of India for a joint venture, Airtel is now the first telecom operator to allow you to use your phone to make payments directly. It’s a small launch – right now only in Gurgaon, but Airtel has tied up with merchants, including coffee shops and restaurants, who will accept payments via Airtel Money. The service will be next launched in Delhi, and then in other Indian cities.
