SC to cross examine witnesses pertaining to BS Lalli case

The cross examination of government witnesses on allegations of financial irregularities against suspended Prasar Bharati CEO B.S. Lalli will soon be started by the Supreme Court.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice S.H. Kapadia asked its registry to complete the cross examination of government witnesses within four weeks and to place all the evidence before the Registrar. He also asked Lalli to give his list of witnesses within two weeks.

The Bench passed the order on a Presidential reference to sack Lalli, the CEO of Prasar Bharati, who had been suspended on 21 December last year by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil following a recommendation by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry through the Prime Minister’s office and made a reference to the apex court for his removal on the recommendation of the government.
