Media Pro suspends signal to Reliance Big TV

Media Pro Enterprise India Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Star Den Media Services and Zee Turner Ltd., announced on 4 May 2012, suspension of signals to DTH operator Reliance Big TV and serving switch-off notice to cable TV delivery platform GTPL over non-payment of dues and differences on reported subscriber numbers.
While the company is fully aware and understands the viewers' pain and empathizes with them, it considers that this difficult decision was necessary to curb the prevailing evil of piracy, under-reporting and non-payment to broadcasters and send a strong message to the operators supporting such malpractices.

Media Pro was forced to take this strong decision after numerous reminders and notices failed to invoke any response from these 2 operators. GTPL is one of the largest cable TV delivery platforms in Gujarat.
The company is keen on ensuring prompt payment as also fair business practices and will work towards enforcing its rights by all legal means necessary.
STAR India, an equal partner in Media Pro, is launching a new television series, Satyamev Jayte, featuring Aamir Khan on 6th May, besides a new hindi movie channel, ‘Movies OK’. Media Pro is well aware of the likely negative impact these switch-offs could have on the viewership of the show and on the movie channel, which would be airing blockbuster premiers back-to-back over the next one month as part of the launch plan.
However, it feels the step was necessary keeping in mind the long term business objectives and the overall health of the Industry.
