4G services to be made less expensive with the help of the Wi-Fi routers

Most mobile customers believe the prices of 4G devices would be very costly so they would have to keep away from them in the high-speed internet. The game changer from the industry has arrived.
Some 4G operators are trying to make 4G services less costlier for the consumers by offering pocket-sized Wi-Fi routers. With the help of these devices, the consumers would be able to use the existing EDGE or 3G-enabled smartphones, which are likely to be less costly than the proposed 4G devices. The only requirement would be to enable these phones with Wi-Fi.

The leading 4G mobile players in the country would include Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Infotel, Maxis-controlled Aircel and Bharti Airtel. In some of the cities, Airtel has already launched 4G services, whereas Aircel will be launching the service in phases by the year-end. Reliance Infotel, the only nationwide player in the segment, will also be making a beginning next year.
The Wi-Fi routers would be sold at Rs 2,500 and when they would be charge for one full day, they would be able to work for one full day.
"We already have pocket-sized routers and surely offer them to Indian operators," says an executive of China's Huawei Technologies, which manufactures the Wi-Fi routers.
