The new iPhone 5 launched by Apple on Sep 13, 2012

Bringing the months of speculation to an end, the new smartphone from Apple, iPhone 5, has been launched on Sep 13 to tackle growing challenges from Samsung, Google and Microsoft. The phone was launched in San Francisco, where the Apple marketing chief Phill Schiller called the new phone the “most beautiful product ever made, bar none”. He also said it was the best engineering the company had ever come up with.
The new smartphone will be available for pre-order in U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, and the shipping of the product will begin one week later. The product will finally be available in more than 100 countries, Mr. Schiller said.

The new iPhone comes with a 4-inch screen, which is the largest-ever for an iPhone, as the earlier versions of the phone had 3.5-inch screens. The phones from Samsung, Motorola and HTC already come with larger screens, but Apple doesn’t go for such large screens since it believes the “phone has to be designed for the hand. It should fit in your hand, and be easy to send messages, type emails, and surf the web,” Mr. Schiller said.
It runs on Apple A6 chip, twice as fast and powerful from the earlier A5 chip, and it comes with a battery good for 10 hours of Wi-fi web browsing. The camera comes with 8-megapixel sensor and comes with five-element lens for low light performance.
The new iPhone, however, won’t be compatible with old accessories, and the accessory manufacturers are already working overtime to work on new accessories for the phone. The new version of operating system, iOS 6, has also been released which comes with a new map software as well. The directions will be given by the virtual assistant, Siri, for the users.
