Cable TV fee in Mizoram will be Rs 250 from January 2013

Mizoram Cable TV Owners and Distributors’ Association (MICODA) will increase Cable TV monthly fee to Rs. 250 from January 2013.
However, the hike is only for villages other than Aizawl, and also will not apply to LPS and Zonet Cable TV subscribers.

The decision to this effect was taken by MICODA General Assembly held in November 28, 2012.
The resolution stated that as the expenditure in Cable TV operation has become higher than before so much that the cable operators has to go on loss as of now, which necessitated to increase the monthly fee paid by the subscribers.
MICODA also said that the current monthly fee Rs. 200 has been used for many years, and adding to it, since the government levied 20% tax, the cable operators get only Rs. 160 monthly per subscriber.
“Owing to rising price of commodities and requisite high expenditure of Cable TV operation, while the monthly fee ought to be fixed at Rs. 300 or more than that, yet concerning the general public it has been resolved to increase it up to Rs. 250 for now”, MICODA explained.
MICODA asked the people to understand their problem and to accept the hike in the monthly fee.
