Former PM I. K. Gujral died

Former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, whose 11-month term as the head of a coalition government in 1997-98 marked a new phase in the country’s foreign policy, promoting friendly relations with neighbours, including Pakistan, passed away on 30 Nov 12 at the age of 92. 
He is survived by two sons — Naresh, a Rajya Sabha MP and Akali Dal leader, and Vishal. His wife, Sheila Gujral, died in 2011. 

Parliament was adjourned after home minister Sushilkumar Shinde made the ann-ouncement. The government announced a seven-day state mourning. 
The first Punjabi PM had propounded the ‘Gujral Doctrine’ of five principles for maintaining good neighbourly relations that became the hallmark of his policy of friendly relations with countries in South Asia. 
He was also the first and only Prime Minister till date who gave a hearing to Cable Operators of the country.
