Cable television operator detained under Goondas Act

A cable television operator, who had attacked a special tahsildar last month, was detained under the Goondas Act. 
Velmurugan (35) had attacked the special tahsildar for government cable television network, at K. R. R. Nagar on January 17. It was said that the tahsildar had refused to grant him license to operate a cable television network in his village. Tahsildar Murugesan was seriously injured in the incident and was rushed to a private hospital in Madurai for treatment. The allegation was that the Tahsildar demanded money for issuing licence to the cable TV operator and a wordy altercation had resulted in the offence. Later, he had surrendered before the police. 

Collector K. S. Palanisamy issued orders to detain him under the Goondas Act in response to the recommendations made by Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar Abhinapu.
