Case Booked Against Hathway

Officials of the Legal Metrology Department on 19 March 2013 booked a case against Hathway Digital Cable TV Services in Hyderguda, Hyderabad for selling set-top boxes (STBs) without mandatory declarations required under the packaged commodities rule. Over 1,500 boxes worth over Rs. 42 lakh were seized from the company. The company was selling two types of boxes for Rs.1,149 and Rs. 4,500 in violation of norms, said Additional Director-General of Police and Controller of Legal Metrology R.P. Thakur.
In a separate raid, the authorities registered cases against two jewellery shop owners in Nacharam and A.S. Rao Nagar for charging weight of the stones, including gold rate, while selling ornaments.
