DVS expands VENICE product line

For NAB 2013, Rohde & Schwarz DVS GmbH (DVS) has extended its VENICE Media Production Hub product line: VENICE Element is a custom-tailored, budget-oriented entry-level solution designed for playout. Thanks to numerous additional innovations, it is now easier for TV studios to create file-based workflows. The new GUI has been tailored even more closely to the needs of live studio operation. With support for AS-11, DVS again demonstrates its ability to rapidly adapt to new standards.
Versatility and ease of integration into existing workflows are at the heart of the Media Production Hub's design: It is available in multiple versions with different chassis sizes, channel numbers and internal storage capacities. The new VENICE Element unites four channels in a 2U chassis for reliable studio and live playout, providing broadcasters with a scalable entry-level solution for automated channel playout. As part of this, the Media Production Hub's GUI has also been optimized and the design made more ergonomic. Users will be impressed by its straightforward operating guidance, which supports them by giving immediate access to all key functions even in hectic live broadcast operations – with their clear displays almost completely ruling out operating errors. By reconfiguring various settings like file formats and resolutions, the extensive feature set can be adapted to suit the particular needs of the different user groups such as operators and administrators.

In addition, VENICE now supports AS-11 thereby offering a new standardized delivery format for broadcast workflows. As a subset of the MXF file format, AS-11 permits straightforward handling of essence data and metadata resulting in considerably easier content exchange and workflows.
Niklas Fabian, Product Manager at DVS said that, ‘With our VENICE Media Production Hub, we offer broadcasters an enormous range of functions in a single system. With its open communication standards and IP-based server-client architecture, VENICE integrates seamlessly into any production environment. Our Media Production Hub's flexibility allows it to be used in a variety of ways oriented on the needs of TV studios – potentially as a traditional video server today, and the central hub in the workflow tomorrow."
