Submit commercial telecast details in every 15 days: TRAI

Taking exception to TV channels not following rules under which duration of advertisements should not exceed 12 minutes per hour, Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) has made it mandatory for broadcasters to provide details of commercials telecast in every 15 days. The latest regulations notified by TRAI stated, ‘"Every broadcaster shall, within 15 days from the end of a quarter, submit to the Authority, in the format specified by it by order, the details of advertisements carried in its channel,"
As per the new regulations, TRAI can intervene if channels violate the rules which allow 12-minute advertisements per hour. The authority may intervene for the purpose of protecting the interests of the subscribers or for ensuring compliance of the provisions of these regulations, it said.
