There Will Be A Delay In DAS Phase II: Preet Dhupar

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been constantly monitoring the preparedness for the implementation of digital addressable cable TV system in the 38 cities of DAS Phase II. Recently, Secretary, Information and Broadcasting, Uday Kumar Varma expressed optimism over meeting the deadline. He shared that, as per the review done by the Ministry last week, approximately 60 per cent digitisation has taken place.
COO of BBC India Preet Dhupar said, ‘“I think digitisation will definitely happen in the long run but there will be a delay. She further added that challenges will be there. Looking at lessons learnt from Phase I, there will be issues such as non-availability of STBs, awareness levels, etc. and they will only be more amplified in Phase II. ‘Targeting 38 cities is not a small task under any circumstances.”
