Pune Distt Administration wants subscribers to submit CAF

The entertainment branch of the district administration has directed multi-system operators (MSOs) and cable operators in the city to expedite the collection of Consumer Application Forms (CAF) from customers.
Officials from the entertainment branch on 26 June said though they have not received the latest statistics on the number of customers yet to submit the forms to their respective cable operators, however, according to the sources in the cable TV industry, more than 50% of the customers are yet to submit the CAFs.

Officials have appealed to customers to fill the forms to avoid any inconvenience, including stopping of broadcasting of channels to those customers who fail to submit the forms with details.
The entertainment branch now plans to hold a meeting with the cable operators and MSOs to review the ongoing drive of filling of CAFs and to chalk out a further course of action to speed up filling of forms.
Sources said many customers already have submitted their details but are not being given channels as per their choice.
As many as 4.25 lakh households in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have installed set top boxes (STBs) in the last few months after the government decided to stop broadcasting signals of TV channel through cables and allowed transmission only through STBs. The deadline to install STBs was 31 March 2013. According to the entertainment tax department, both cities registered considerable increase in installation of STBs compared to last year, which was about 1.79 lakh household. The figure has now crossed the 4.25-lakh mark. The figures are based on data provided by the cable operators and MSOs, said officials.
