First DTH private channel goes lives in Sikkim

The northeast’s first DTH (direct-to-home) private satellite TV channel, the North Eastern Television (NETV) was officially inaugurated in the capital, Gangtok, on 23 July.
 Bhim Rawat, president of Press Club of Sikkim, inaugurated the NETV bureau office at Tibet Road at a special function organised on the occasion. A large contingent of the media fraternity in Gangtok was also present.

NETV’s state bureau head Chewan Krishna Dahal said that NETV is the first private DTH satellite channel beamed from the northeast region since 2003.
A ssenior official said that similar bureau offices have been setup in all state capitals of the eight northeastern states and New Delhi. “We are available on all major cable TV operators across northeast, rest of India and even Fiji, Mauritius and Maldives, where many Indians live,”
