Huawei will provide optic cable link between China and Pakistan

Pakistan will get on alternate route for its international traffic when Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei lays down fibre optic from China to Pakistan.
The 800 kilometer long fibre optic cable will be laid down in association with Strategic Communication Organisation (SCO), a Pakistani telecommunication company, along the route of Karakoram highway.

The fibre optic cable will have its destination point in Rawalpindi.
With this cable, Huawei will have a very strong presence in the communication sector as the company is already providing network solutions to various Pakistani telecom operators.
Pakistan is currently connected to the world through undersea cables such as SEA-ME-WE3, SEA-ME-WE 4, IMEWE and TWA-1. The new cable will connect Pakistan to Trans-Asia Europe (TAE) providing an alternate traffic to connect with the world.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 22 June at the time of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang's visit to Pakistan.
