Kolkata MSOs and LCOs pulled up by TRA

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) held a meeting with MSOs and LCOs of Kolkata to asses the progress of submission of CAF forms giving choice of consumers. The regulator expressed concern over the city’s performance in the implementation of the Digital Addressable Cable TV System (DAS) as its performance is the worst among 4 metros.
TRAI principal advisor N Parameswaran who attended the meeting said that the overall implementation of the subscriber management system (SMS) in the city is just 20 per cent as against at least 80 per cent in the other three metros.

The compliance among MSOs varies between 2 and 60 per cent in the metropolis.
He said Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had strictly decided to implement DAS in its complete form and those not complying with the direction will have to face criminal prosecutions.
The deadline to implement SMS expired on July 10.
The MSOs, meanwhile, sought more time to implement the SMS and based on that TRAI would give a final deadline.
