Trace Sport Stars increases connectivity in India

Sports lifestyle HD channel Trace Sports Stars has claimed that it has increased its connectivity to 10.3 million television homes within a year of its launch in India.
The channel, which was earlier known as Trace Sports, has signed 54 carriage deals in India since its launch in February 2012. Trace Sports Stars is aimed at top-end customers in the country. News broadcaster NDTV is distributing the channel in India. Currently available only on one DTH platform that is Airtel digital TV, the sports lifestyle channel has since stitched deals with digital cable TV networks including Hathway Cable and Datacom, Digicable, Manthan Broadband, ICMCL, Fastway Digital and ICC Network among others. NDTV AVP, Network Distribution & Affiliate Sales Rohit Jaiswal said there is a market for Trace Sport Stars in India. He also said that the MSOs and DTH operators have a huge incentive in pushing a channel like Trace Sport Stars since they will bring in high ARPU’s (Average Revenue per User). Trace Sport Stars, he said, has got good response and is particularly popular among hotels. Beginning 1 October, Trace Sports rebranded to Trace Sport Stars, globally. As part of the rebrand, the channel has commissioned more than 100 hours of entertainment programming from UK-based Remedy Productions, part of the Argonon group. The channel is carried in 104 countries beaming into more than 30 million households worldwide. Trace Sport Stars’ Laurent Dumeau said, “The global roll-out of Trace Sport Stars has been nothing short of remarkable, having made strong headway in an extremely crowded market over the past year. In partnership with NDTV, the Indian TV market has been instrumental to this success. After successful launches in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and most recently the Middle-East, we will now focus our efforts expanding into other key regions, the US and Pacific-Rim.” Under the new programming commission, Remedy will deliver long-form series and short-form content for the channel, including Battle of the Bling, a fast-paced show that compares some of the biggest stars of the sporting world, such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Mike Tyson, against celebrities from the worlds of television, music and film in categories including lifestyle, fashion, reputation and riches. Also part of the launch schedule is Star Rated, in which presenters and experts debate some of the biggest topics in the world of sporting entertainment, covering issues as wide-ranging as ‘which international footballer has the best WAG?’ and which millionaire golfer has the best home?’. In addition to the new programming line-up, award winning creative agency “Dream On” have delivered a complete on-air refresh including new on-air graphic and promo packages, reflecting Trace Sport Stars brand values: fun, girly, entertaining, controversial and celebrity focused.
