ALi Partners with Huawei to Successfully Deploy DVB-T2 Set-top Boxes for Republic of Belarus

ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) solution provider announced it has joined forces with Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solution provider, and started mass production shipping of a DVB-T2 set-top box solution to a national telecommunication operator for deployment in the Republic of Belarus.
In the Republic of Belarus with about 3.7 million television households, digital TV broadcasting is being rolled out and analog switch-off is scheduled to complete by 2015. Free DTT service in DVB-T standard started in 2009, and the state-owned Belarusian incumbent telecomm operator is launching a pay DTT service in 2013 using DVB-T2 standard.  Furthermore, two neighboring countries, Russia and Ukraine, are also rolling out DTT in the T2 standard. One major challenge in the DTT deployment that these countries face is the supply of quality set-top boxes.

Tanyi, Director of STB Products of Huawei Consumer Business Group, states, “Huawei has been bringing enriched, integrated entertainment experiences to the world. Now partnering with ALi to supply DVB-T2 set-top boxes to viewers in the Republic of Belarus, we aim to gain a stronger hold on the growing STB markets in the country and surrounding CIS member states.”
Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit, comments, “Backed by the proven success in DTT market, ALi is experienced and proficient at providing innovative technologies and solutions tailored to specific regions, especially CIS member states and neighboring countries. This collaborated solution with Huawei will help bring quality, affordable DVB-T2 receivers within reach for more people in the Republic of Belarus.”
At the CSTB 2014, to take place on January 28 to 30 in Moscow, Russia, ALi will showcase the latest T2 products, in addition to a full line-up of DVB solutions including S2, Cable, and OTT, as well as the Headless Gateway Platform based on the B3 (Broadcast to Broadband Bridge) SoC family, bringing linear TV to all IP devices in the home. Demonstrations will be available at ALi's stand #933, Hall 4.
