Kerala Cable Operators to go on Indefinite Hunger Strike

Kerala Cable Operators on 25th April had announced that they have decided to go on indefinite Hunger Strike from the 29th of April 2014 in front of the State Secretariat with following agenda.
The decision to go on hunger strike has come in the light of Kerala State Electricity Board decision to revision of cable tariff from Rs 108 to Rs 354. The decision taken by the Board created a huge financial burden to the Cable TV industry in Kerala. 

Earlier under the leadership of the Cable TV operators Association various petitions were given to the board, Hunger strike in front of the Palayam Martyr Tower for 2 Days in protest of the Electric post Rate Increment, Total Black out of Cable TV Service for an hour on April 2nd 2014 were done, but there was no positive response from the Ministry of Electricity of KSEB officials. There was no action taken on the Directs from the Hon’ble High Court on this issue.
Now the association has decided to bring a fresh agitation against increased price with the following agenda.
• Electric Post Rental to be revised to Rs. 250.00 for Corporation Limits, Rs. 200.00 for Municipality Limits and Rs. 125.00 for Grama Panchayat Limits from the existing Rs. 311.0.
• Annual Increment of 5% to be withdrawn.
• Mode of Rental Payment to be made quarterly from the Annual Payment.
• Inspection and fee payment from the Electrical Inspectorate to be revised to once in 5 years.
