Jobs in Australian TV network slashes by half

Struggling Australian TV network Ten cut its news division on 21st May, reportedly axing 150 out of 300 jobs.
Further cuts are expected as Ten, the third commercial network in Australia, has been struggling with declining advertising revenue and low ratings, the Sydney Morning Herald daily reported.
Morning and late news bulletins would cease, the report said.
The network reported a loss of 8 million Australian dollars (7.4 million US dollars) in the six months before the end of February, after losing 243 million Australian dollars last year.
The network is partly owned by several Australian billionaires including Lachlan Murdoch, James Packer and Gina Rinehart.
Murdoch took a hands-on role as chairman last year, sacking the chief executive before leaving the network himself in March to take a top post in the global media empire of his father Rupert Murdoch.
