CQ- MIB plan to bring online mechanism for processing application

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is in the process of automating the entire Broadcasting Wing to ensure an online mechanism for various applications.
Once comes into force, this web-enabled software will help applicants to apply online and also make payments of various fees through the payment gateway.
The ministry said that it has put in place specialised software called Satellite Television Channels Application Tracking System (STATS) for those who have already applied to the ministry for various permissions.
An ID and password have been given to all of them to track the status of their pending applications, MIB said in a public notice.
In the statement, ministry also stated that it does not entertain any intermediary, consultant, advisor, consultancy organisation or firm to liaise with the ministry on behalf of applicants and permission holders for following up on their requests.
The ministry has requested all applicants, permission holders and others to interact directly with it without involving any intermediary.
The ministry said that it conducts an open-house meeting every month where anyone, who wishes to apply for permission to start a television channel, teleport or various permissions under the uplinking and downlinking guidelines, can walk in and get clarified his or her doubt.
The ministry also asserted that it follows an absolutely transparent and open process to grant various permissions to television channels, teleport operators and news agencies.
