The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has decided to hold two open-house meetings with broadcaster beginning from July 2014. The meeting will be took place on every 5th and 20th day of a month.
The decision has been taken with aim to give more opportunity to access to information with respect to processing of increasing number of Broadcasters' requests.
The MIB has requested interested broadcasters to post an email at the dirbc-moib@nic.in/ navil.kapur@nic.in at least one day in advance so that latest information can be provided:
Earlier on 11th June MIB press relase stated that, the ministry is in the process of automating the entire Broadcasting Wing to ensure an online mechanism for various applications. Once comes into force, this web-enabled software will help applicants to apply online and also make payments of various fees through the payment gateway.
The ministry also said that it has put in place specialised software called Satellite Television Channels Application Tracking System (STATS) for those who have already applied to the ministry for various permissions. An ID and password have been given to all of them to track the status of their pending applications, MIB said in a public notice.
In April, the ministry had decided to hold open-house meetings every Tuesday with the representatives of all multi-system operators (MSOs) beginning 6 May. The objective was to bring transparency and accountability in the MSO registration process, provide a forum for applicant MSOs to track status of their applications, and clarify MSO application process to prospective applicants.
