CQ-Amritsar cable ops move TDSAT against Fastway’s subscription fee hike

Amritsar Cable TV operator Sangarsh Committee has gone to TDSAT against multi-system operator (MSO) Fastway Transmission’s decision to hike monthly subscription fees.
The tribunal has accepted the cable operator association letter of complaint as a petition and asked Fastway to file its reply within three weeks from date of service of the notice. Tribunal has considered petition under section 14 of TRAI act .The next hearing will be on 26 August.
The tribunal has also directed the cable operators’ Association to file an affidavit in support of the allegations made in the letter. They may also file an additional affidavit bringing on record any additional facts and circumstances relevant to this dispute.
Association in its complaint has alleged that MSO has increased the subscription fees in digital digital addressable system (DAS) areas of Punjab to Rs 125 per month from Rs 100. Fastway, however, has clarified that  it is just implementing gross billing as per directive from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the amount includes service tax.
Lawyer Vibhav Srivastava has been asked by TDSAT to assist the tribunal on behalf of the petitioners.
