CQ-DD FreeDish e-auctions fetch 22.8 crore

Six slots on DD Free Dish, the free-to-air (FTA) direct-to-home (DTH) service from public broadcaster Prasar Bharati were e-auction on 11 and 12 August 2014 fetching over Rs 22.8 crore. 
The successful bidders include Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Rishtey (Viacom18), B4U Music, News Nation and Big Magic. 
Starting with a reserve price of Rs 3 crore bids closed at 3.8 to 4.7 crores.
Thus brings the total of FTA channels on FreeDish to 60. According to Jawahar Sircar, CEO, Prasar Bharati, aim is to reach a figure 97 channels by October end. It has 12–14 million subscribers, and the quality FTA channels are very few.
