The biggest surprise and shock in the DAS era is revoking of the MSO licence of none other than Kalanithi Maran’s Kal Cables that runs Sumangali Cable Vision (SCV), Chennai’s largest MSO.
Ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has revoked multi-system operator (MSO) Kal Cables’ permanent registration for digital addressable system (DAS) due to denial of security clearance by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Kal Cables Private Limited is promoted by DK Enterprises and Mallika Maran, mother of former Union minister Dayanidhi Maran. Dayanidhi's brother Kalanithi, is promoter of Sun TV Network. Kal Cables own SCV, the largest MSO in Chennai.
The MSO has already challenged the cancellation in Madras High Court, which has reserved its judgement in the case for today.
