I&B Ministry Issues Advisory to News Channels

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has advised all news television channels interested in carrying the live telecast of the Independence Day Flag Hoisting ceremony and commentary to carry the signals of DD News with sign language interpretation. This enabled people with hearing impairment to witness the telecast of Independence Day celebrations.
The DD news channel carried the sign language interpretation of the Independence Day Flag Hoisting ceremony. Private satellite TV channels availed the feed of the Independence Day Flag Hoisting ceremony and commentary free of cost.

The ministry was getting requests from members of the civil society to facilitate access to people with hearing impairment to the telecast of the Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony and commentary by various television channels so that such citizens could join in celebrating Independence Day.
