Verimatrix Integration of DRM technology on IPTV/OTT Platform Extends Security for Hybrid Solutions on Latest ALi Chipsets and Dongles

ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) and HDMI dongle solution provider, today announced Verimatrix VCAS leading-edge revenue security solution has been integrated on ALi’s over-the-top (OTT) and IPTV platform to provide robust DRM for video distribution via broadband networks. This latest integration extends the availability of Verimatrix security solutions on ALi chipsets from broadcast to broadband and hybrid usage as well. The ALi M3912 IPTV/OTT platform – in a compact HDMI dongle format – will be showcased at IBC 2014.
The M3912 IPTV/OTT platform with HTML5 browser includes a dedicated security CPU, offering secure content delivery within a trusted hardware environment, and additionally features low power consumption and high efficiency. The Verimatrix integrated solution meets the most stringent security requirements for DRM on IPTV/OTT services and is the ideal answer to the needs of the eco-system, wherein service providers are looking to embrace IPTV/OTT revenue opportunities while content providers are trying to protect intellectual property from piracy threats. Target applications of the joint platform include IPTV thin client, OTT box, and HDMI dongle.
“The close working relationship of ALi and Verimatrix has provided a range of low cost video service security solutions to our customers and partners,” stated Steve Oetegenn, president of Verimatrix. “The availability of this latest OTT dongle integration provides an additional option to progressive pay-TV operators and Internet TV service providers that enables full protection of their brand and service revenues.”
“The OTT market continues to expand with revenue CAGR from 2013 to 2019 expected to be 24% worldwide, according to ABI Research,” said Der-shen Chen, General Manager of ALi’s Open Internet Media Business Unit. “Secure content distribution and rights management have always been a major concern. ALi has been cooperating with Verimatrix in delivering security solutions for the pay-TV eco-system. We have put forth a number of STB conditional access(CA) solutions and are now answering to the rising security needs from the IPTV/OTT market. Our collaborative work extends to hybrid DVB+OTT, IPTV/OTT solutions, which offer to combine both CA and DRM technologies.”
Interested eco-system partners are invited to visit the Verimatrix booth, No. A55 at Hall 4, for a live demonstration of the IPTV/OTT solution during IBC 2014 from September 12 to 16 in Amsterdam.
