Children watch half as much live TV as adults, says Ofcom

The UK broadcast regulator found that 11 to 15 year olds watch 1 hour and 32 minutes of live TV per day and 33 minutes of short online video clips, compared to 2 hours and 58 minutes of TV and five minutes of clips for adults.

Government may merge broadband, e-services delivery projects

First Meeting of Consultative Committee attached to Ministry of Information & Broadcasting held

Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting today chaired the First meeting of the Consultative Committee of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to discuss the issue of Digitisation of Cable TV Network, Phase III and IV. Disney Movies Anywhere on Google Play

The Walt Disney Studios and Google Play are teaming up to allow Android users enjoy their Disney, Pixar, and Marvel digital movie collections across their devices through Disney Movies Anywhere.
The cloud-based movie service was launched February 2014 with Apple, enabling buyers of Disney movies to view them digitally on multiple Apple devices. As rival studios and consumer electronics groups have backed UltraViolet, Disney and Apple have preferred a more proprietary and contained cloud-based system limited to Apple’s store and devices.

TalkTalk halves triple-play prices

TalkTalk has cut the cost of its TV, broadband and calls packages to half price for 12 months. TalkTalk’s Essentials TV package will now be £4.25 a month plus line rental, while Plus TV – TalkTalk’s YouView TV bundle – will be £9.25 a month plus line rental. The deal provides a saving of up to £190 over 18 months in comparison to BT’s equivalent packages, according to TalkTalk.
The new deal builds on a recent announcement that mobile now comes as standard for Plus TV, as TalkTalk has added a free mobile SIM worth £90 to the package, offering 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200Mb of data a month. Plus TV also includes seven Sky entertainment channels – such as Sky 1, Sky Living and Sky Sports News HQ – the ability to pause, rewind and record live TV through a YouView+ box, alongside totally unlimited broadband and anytime calls.

Discovery “another solid quarter”

Discovery Communications has reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30th 2014.
Q3 revenues of $1,568 million increased $193 million, or 14, over the third quarter a year ago, as 32 per cent growth at International Networks was partially offset by a 1 per cent decline at US Networks, primarily due to additional revenues from licensing agreements in the prior year.
