ALi Presents Combo Satellite and Terrestrial Solutions Targeting African Markets

ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) chipset solution provider, announced it will showcase a series of solutions specially tailored for African countries at AfricaCast 2014.
Today, many African countries are racing against time to ready themselves for the migration from analogue to digital broadcasting as the 2015 deadline for the switch-off is imminent. According to Digital TV Research, digital penetration will exceed half the TV households in Sub-Saharan Africa very soon, and the region will add 20 million TV households between 2013 and 2020 to reach 68 million.
ALi has prepared a full spectrum of DVB STB chipset solutions to specifically answer to the needs of African markets. These solutions include an S2 and T2 combo platform for pay-TV operators with which viewers will be able to receive both satellite and terrestrial programming. In addition, ALi also provides an individual DVB-S2 platform with value-added features such as multi-screen applications. There are also DVB-T2 SoC solutions available for both pay-TV and FTA that support the MHEG-5 profile selected by South Africa.

ALi’s STB chipset solution lineup for Africa will be demonstrated at Booth No. 4 at AfricaCast 2014 from November 11th to 13th in Cape Town.
