Former (DoT) official Anil Kaushal may be appointed TRAI member

Former Department of Telecom (DoT) official Anil Kaushal is likely to be appointed as the new full-time member of TRAI with tenure of three years.
According to sources, the selection committee has selected Kaushal, who retired as member (technology), DoT in June this year, for the post of TRAI member.
This post would be falling vacant upon completion of the three-year tenure of R K Arnold in January 2015. 
The committee has shortlisted 11 candidates, also included TRAI secretary Sudhir Gupta, former DoT officials A K Mittal and J K Roy, among others.
The committee recommendations will now be placed before Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for approval. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) will give the final approval.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) consists of a chairperson and not more than two whole-time members and two part-time members appointed by the Central government.
