AIR launches Vividh Bharati in FM mode at Chennai

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Shri Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore inaugurated a dedicated FM transmitter for Vividh Bharati in Chennai on 20 February 2015 at 16:30 hrs in presence of DGAIR, Engineer in Chief AIR, Additional Director General (Programe) (SR1 &SR2), Additional Director General (Engineering - Projects) (SZ), Additional Director General (Engineering - Maintenance)(SZ) and other senior officers and Invitees.
This will enable people in Chennai to enjoy All India Radio's (AIR) popular Vividh Bharati service without noise and distortions even on their mobile phones and car stereos, thus reaching out even to those who are on move. Vividh Bharati channel in Chennai was operating on 20 KW Medium Wave transmitter, now a dedicated 10 KW FM transmitter has been installed. 
Out of 37 Vividh Bharati channels, 32 had a dedicated FM transmitter. After Vividh Bharati in Chennai started the service on FM Mode, the count has become 33. The service is available on 100.5 MHz.
