Akashvani bags exclusive rights for radio broadcast of Cricket World Cup matches

Public service broadcaster Akashvani has bagged the exclusive rights for the radio broadcast of 17 selected matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. 
All India Radio (AIR) will broadcast the ball-by-ball bilingual commentary of 17 one-day international cricket matches of the World Cup that is to be played in Australia and New Zealand. 
It will broadcast commentary of the matches that are played by India and some of the matches involving neighbouring countries. 
The matches to be broadcast include India vs Pakistan on 15 February (from 8:30 am), India vs South Africa on 22 February (8:30 am onwards), Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka on 26 February (8:30 am onwards), India vs UAE 28 February (11:30 am onwards), England vs Sri Lanka on 1 March (3 am onwards), India vs West Indies on 6 March (11:30 am onwards), Pakistan vs South Africa on 7 March (6 am onwards), Australia vs Sri Lanka on 8 March (8:30 am onwards), India vs Ireland on 10 March (6 am onwards) and India vs Zimbabwe on 14 March (6 am onwards). 
AIR will also broadcast all the matches from the quarter-finals stage. 
The commentaries of the 17 matches will be broadcast on the national hook-up and the same will be relayed by 66 identified Medium Wave AIR stations and FM Gold network. 
AIR Delhi will broadcast hourly updates of the 17 matches on its FM Rainbow channel. This will be relayed by all other AIR FM Rainbow channels. 
The commentary will be interspersed with news and bytes of nationally and internationally acclaimed cricket stars to add value to the coverage.
