ARASU impleaded in Star Vs Thamizhaga MSO case in TDSAT

As per its order dated 13 February, the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on 24 February impleaded ARASU Cable in the case filed by Thamizhaga Cable TV Communication (TCCL), an independent MSO in Chennai, against Star India.
TCCL had moved the TDSAT against broadcaster ‘Star India’ on 10th Novemver 2014, demanding parity with ‘ARASU’ for broadcaster’s rate for its TV signals. The company has contended that the Star India is demanding subscription rates as per its reference interconnet offer (RIO) while State-run MSO ARASU Cable is virtually getting signals free-of-cost since it does not have a DAS licence and operates in analogue mode in the Chennai city, a DAS notified area.
The state run MSO is distributing analogue signals in Chennai under an interim order passed by Madras High Court.
Arasu Cable TV Corporation will be represented by its General Manager as respondent No. 2. All the parties have been asked by the tribunal to file amended memo within one week and reply of the company within three weeks from the date of receipt of notice. Rejoinder, if any, may be filed within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the reply.
The matter will now come up for hearing on 24th March 2015.
