Airtel Digital TV plans to add 12 channels in Phase III & IV; focusing on smaller towns

Airtel Digital TV a Direct-to-Home (DTH) believes that digitisation and Hi-Definition (HD) connections will be key factors for its growth.
Shashi Arora, CEO, Airtel Digital TV, told media that smaller towns and cable dark areas are main source of its growth. Nearly two-third of our new customers are from non-metros, semi-urban areas, including remote parts of the country. We are adding about 1 million subscribers per year. Phases III & IV will cover mostly rural and cable dark regions and we expect our subscriber base will grow significantly.
Airtel Digital TV plans to add 12 channels soon.
Focusing on HD channels Arora said, we are currently offering 27-odd HD channels and hope to grow it to 50 HD channels this year.
Arora told that company wants to get indigenous STBs at competitive rates.
