Government has appointed C. Lalrosanga, a veteran broadcaster, as Director General of Doordarshan following retirement of Vijayalakshmi Chhabra. Lalrosanga was Additional Director General in All India Radio and has a rich and diverse experience of sound and visuals in broadcasting.
According to DD sources, there were five competitors namely AIR DG F Shehryaar, Aparna Vaish, Deepa Chandra, Dr Rajshekhar Vyas, Mukesh Sharma and Mahesh Joshi for this post. Finally, Mr. Lalrosanga has been considered for the post.
Immediate challenge to Lalrosanga is to launch 'Kisan Channel' as well as he has to consider four channels for North Eastern region and to increase the growth of DD‘s direct to home Freedish service.
Lalrosanga was selected by UPSC in 1991 and appointed as director in North eastern service of All India Radio (NES) Shillong. Prior to that, he was assistant news editor (ANE) at AIR in Aizawl.
