Calcutta HC extends the stay order on cancellation of DigiCablecomm Services’ licence for DAS

The Calcutta High Court has extended the stay on the cancellation of DigiCablecomm Services’ multi-system operator (MSO) licence by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting till the disposal of the case. The matter was listed in the High Court before Justice IP Mukerji on 6 April.
In the earlier hearing too, the Calcutta High Court had ordered a stay on the cancellation of the registration of Kolkata-based multi-system operator (MSO) till 6 April, 2015.
In July 2014, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had cancelled the registration of Digicable Comm. services due to denial of security clearance by the Home Ministry.
Digicable Comm, a joint venture (JV) between Digicable (51 per cent) and Kolkata-headquartered Multicar Group (49 per cent) was formed in the year 2009, to gain a foothold in the West Bengal market.
MHA had cancelled the company’s permanent registration on 18 July, 2014 due to denial of security clearance.
