Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has rejected the application of Digi Navi Mumbai Network (DNMN), a Joint venture of Digicable Network India, for permanent multi-system-operator (MSO) as the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has not granted security clearance to the company. DNMN had filed an application in August 2014.
Besides the above rejection, MIB has issued 11 new MSO licences, taking total numbers to touch 169 as on 10 April. Earlier in the month of March MIB had issued 16 (11+5) new MSO licences. The list of 11 new MSOs who got licence in April is as follows:
Bathinda-based MC Transmission has been granted a licence for Punjab.
Yanam-based Skyvision Master Channel has got a licence for Yanam and East Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh.
Arohon Cable TV Network has got a licence for 24 Parganas (South) and Howrah in West Bengal under Phases III and IV.
Machillipatnam Communication has got a licence for Phase III and IV areas in Andhra Pradesh.
Dhansura-based Uday Infosys has got a licence for Aravalli, Kheda, and Sabarkantha districts in Gujarat.
United Cable Communication based in New Delhi has received a pan-India licence.
Kota-based Radiant Digitek Network has got a licence for Phases II, III, and IV areas in Rajasthan.
Perambalur-based NT Broadcasting has got a licence for Perambalur, Cuddalore, Salem, Villupuram, Trichy, and Ariyalur districts in Tamil Nadu.
Ashok Nagar-based SR Digital has got a licence for Phase II, III, and IV areas in Madhya Pradesh.
Warangal-based Mahathi Warangal Communications & Cable TV Network has got licences for Warangal and Karimnagar districts in Andhra Pradesh.
Yelamanchil Cable Network has got a licence for Phase III areas in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
It is learnt from sources that many more applications are pending approval of MHA as well as I&B Ministry for the issue of a DAS MSO licence. Phase III will end in another eight months. With just 169 MSOs registered so for it is almost impossible to cover 500 district of Phase III. It takes at least six months for a new MSO to start operating and installing the STBs .The process can start only after receiving licence.
