ICC World Cup viewership soared to 635 million in India

The ICC cricket World Cup that ended earlier this week was watched by 635 million Indians till the semi-final stage. This viewership made this Cricket World Cup most watched event in the history of Indian television.
A record 309 million Indians (TAM Panel CS4+ extrapolated to the universe using a standard conversion factor) tuned in to watch India’s semifinal clash with Australia on their televisions, as the two best teams in the world battled for a berth in the World Cup finals. India had lost the match to Australia.
The ICC Cricket World Cup was broadcast in six regional languages — Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, apart from English and Hindi. This strategy proved successful and contributed to 77 percent of the overall viewership.
