TDSAT adjourns DTH CPE case to 31 July

The Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has adjourned the direct-to-home (DTH) customer premises equipment (CPE) case to 31 July 2015, as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) counsel did not have necessary instructions.
In the previous hearing, the matter was adjourned until 29 July as the petitioners DTH Association, Videocon d2h and Sun Direct wanted more time to file their rejoinders.
The DTH Association, Videocon d2h and Sun Direct had appealed against TRAI’s tariff order for CPE that capped the installation and activation charges for DTH CPE at Rs 450.
The authority had also asked DTH operators to mandatory offer an outright purchase scheme called Standard Scheme for all types of CPE on a standalone basis. They are also required to provide free maintenance and repair of CPE for three years after installation/activation.
