Asianet launches mobile app

Asianet, the leading Malayalam entertainment channel, has launched Asianet Mobile TV, an app for live streaming of Malayalam channels.
The global launch of the OTT (over-the-top) service from Asianet was held in Dubai on 22 August heralding Onam, the biggest festival for Malayalees, during the month of Chingam.  With this, Asianet has become the first multi-system operator in the country to launch an OTT service.
G Sankaranarayana, President and COO, Asianet Satellite Communications, said, “Asianet with a little over 20 years of experience in the domain of cable TV and broadband internet services is pleased to reach out to the large Malayalee diaspora with Asianet Mobile TV and provide them visual entertainment that is as close as it gets to home with the anytime, anywhere app,”
S Sathishkumar, Executive Vice President (OTT), added, “We will be closely working together to enliven your entertainment with Asianet Mobile TV and make this OTT service your daily booster-dose for all information and entertainment from Kerala.”
The app will be made available on the Windows platform soon. Registration and activation of the app can be done through the website http://www.asianetmobiletv.com.
As many as 20 Malayalam channels with a mix of rich content in entertainment, news, travel, lifestyle, and spiritual will be available besides radio channels.
Asianet, a 20-year-old digital cable TV and broadband service provider in Kerala, has extended digital cable TV services to various states in South India.
