SDM restrains SITI Cable from Charging STB repair cost

In a first of its kind case SDM Faridabad on 03 August has directed Siti Cable Network not to charge the repairing charges of Set-Top-Boxes from the local cable operators within a period of three years from the date of installation, as provided in the TRAI Tariff Order of 2013.
The SDM passed this order after Sh. Jagbir Singh and other Cable Operators of Faridabad complained that the MSO was charging for repair and maintenance of STBs for which the LCOs had already paid a lumpsum amount to the MSO. In their complaint they had stated that it was against the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services (Fifth ) (Digital Addressable Cable TV Systems) Tariff Order , 2013 that provisioned that no amount can be charged for repair and maintenance of STBs for a period of three years after the installation.
The SDM had issued a notice to the Siti Cable and after receiving their reply, took action as the Authorised Officer as per provisions of the Cable TV Act 1995.
Sh Satish Bhatia, President Faridabad Cable Operators Association informed Cable Quest that the association has decided to fight for the rights of consumers as they have serviced them for so many years and cannot let them be cheated by the MSOs due to lack of awareness.
