Setting the issue of Interconnect Agreements between MSOs and LMOs

Bombay High Court issued directions to TRAI resolve the matter within two weeks. The direction was given in the case of, Maharashtra Cable Operators Foundation Vs
The States of Maharashtra & Others vide Writ Petition no. 1122 of 2014.

LCOs had taken up the issue of one sided agreements in the absence of a standard format provided by TRAI which has caused numerous disputes in the industry bading to many court case. Many MSOs were exploiting the LCOs as TRAI had left everything to mutual negotiations.
Mrs. Roop Sharma, President, Cable Operators Federation of India (COFI) welcomed the directions and advised all LCOs not to sign the one sided Interconnect Agreement with any MSO. She says if you have already signed without understanding same and if your MSO has not given you a Copy of the Interconnect Agreement with their Company Seal and Signature within 15 Days of your signing the same, then the Interconnect Agreement is Null and Void which please should be put on record by a registered letter to the MSO.
TRAI is expected to draft a standard Interconnect Agreement within two weeks.
