Ericsson demonstrates 1000x faster 5G networks

The global technology major Ericsson recently showcased its prowess in 5G technology with a speed of 5.7 GB/second. Currently, 4G networks in India offer an average speed of 6.13 mb/second.

Indian telcos are investing in 5G and partnering with tech giants to cash in the future markets. Also, recently Ericsson itself carried out a survey and its report claimed that the 5G technology will be worth USD 27.3-billion in India by 2026. The government wants to introduce 5G by 2020.

The prevalent 4G networks in the country are found to be offering an average speed of 6.13 megabytes per second in a report released last month.

According to Ericsson, this is the first-ever live demonstration of 5G network in the country which was done using its 5G test bed and 5G NR radio. "The demonstration using Ericsson's 5G test bed delivers a throughput of 5.7Gbps and ultra-low latency of 3 millisecond."

Ericsson added, "Introduction of 5G technology will bring a new level of performance and characteristics to the telecom networks enabling new services and creating new ecosystems.”
