CBI may file an appeal challenging Raja’s acquittal in 2G case

As per media sources, the Central Bureau of Investigation may challenge the acquittal of former telecom minister A Raja and others in the 2G spectrum allocation scandal case soon. Some media also reported that the appeal is ready and CBI will file it in the Delhi High Court once law officers of the law ministry vet the grounds of the appeal.

The appeal may contend that the CBI court while acquitting the accused committed a grave error in summarily disregarding the arguments of the prosecution with regard to inconsistencies in the documentation. Media sources said that the appeal will lay emphasis on the fact that the evidence of Nripendra Mishra, then secretary of telecom sector regulator TRAI ought not to have been dismissed in such a summary and perfunctory fashion by the special court.
