Hotstar, Voot partner with Supari Studios for original content

Original content is the key to the popularity of OTT platforms like Netflix and ALTBalaji. Recently, the digital content maker Supari Studios has partnered with two leading OTT platforms. Star India and Viacom18 have sought original content from the production house for their respective OTT platforms: Hotstar and Voot.


According to Supari Studios founder Advait Gupt, “We will be creating original content for Voot and Hotstar. OTT is a huge opportunity for a content studio like us. I think it’s the natural need that exists for content right now in the country as the telecom service providers and smartphone manufacturers have created the connectivity. The OTT players have created the distribution pipeline and now content creators are creating the content. I think the value chain in the eco-system is growing collectively.”

The production house was established in 2012, and it has generated content for several brands such as Absolut, Nike, Dolby, Google, Skype, Uber, Maybelline, Estee Lauder, Godrej, Asian Paints, Amul, Mahindra, YouTube, ITC, Maggi, and L’OrĂ©al amongst other. In 2017, they also created three short films for the energy drink brand Red Bull.

Supari Studios’ revenue model is based on ad-led brand solutions to licensing. For Post Office and Supari Studios, the revenue model is advertisers and brand led whereas Keeda follows the licensing model. The digital studio is also planning to enter into merchandising in the near future.
