EMMC partners with BECIL to install monitoring facility for 100 TV channels, 150 DTH operators

The content monitoring arm of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), the Electronic Media Monitoring Centre (EMMC), will install logging and monitoring facility for 100 private satellite TV channels and 150 direct-to-home (DTH) platform services channels during FY18-19.


The EMMC has proposed to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) to optimally utilise the allocations. BECIL has been assigned to implement the project on turnkey basis. The EMMC has got a budgetary support of Rs 18.1 crore for fiscal 2018-19.

A fund of Rs. 2 crore has been allocated for purchase of Machinery & Equipment for enhancing monitoring capacity by 100 TV channels and logging and monitoring facility for 150 DTH channels.

As per the Demand for Grants report by the Standing Committee on Information Technology, the EMMC had spent Rs 5.4 crore of the Rs 10 crore allocation for FY17-18 till December. In 2016-17, the EMMC had utilised Rs. 8.73 crore of the Rs. 8.90 crore that was allocated by the government.
