Hathway & ZEEL make out-of-court settlement

On 20 February, broadcaster ZEEL had moved the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) to recover outstanding dues from MSO Hathway. The broadcaster had issued a demand notice of Rs 50 crore against Hathway. The dues were for a period of 4-5 months.

Now both parties have resolved their dispute over outstanding dues outside the court. Following this, ZEEL withdrew its petition from TDSAT.

The TDSAT said: “Learned counsel for the parties are ad idem that parties have resolved their differences outside the court. In that view of the matter, as prayed, the petition is disposed of as withdrawn.”

According to ZEEL MD and CEO Punit Goenka, ZEEL will do fixed fee deals with distribution platform operators (DPOs) till the time Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) tariff order, which is currently sub-judice, is implemented.
